Defiance

To me, Defiance was just an okay film. I felt that a lot of the scenes from the film were very gruesome. I felt that unity was the main theme in this movie. I felt that all of the Jewish people stuck together as one. They continuously fought against the Germans. I could tell they were determined to protect each other. Tuvia, Zus, and Asael Bielski were amazing people for contributing help for a lot of Jewish families. They have accomplished a lot and are well know for what they have done. I would recommend this film to others even though, I felt this film was okay.

Tuvia said "Our revenge is to live". I honestly thought this was a powerful quote. I believe this quote simple means the Nazi's would have been upset to continue to see Jew's live their lives. Jews living their lives would make Nazi's upset. Jews were simply fight to keep their lives.

Humanity and revenge were the two main themes in this film. I believe they can coexist. They seem to play a major part. The Jewish people were very proud of their descent. The Nazi's discriminated against them and felt they had no place in Germany. They stood up against the Nazi's. For revenge, the Nazi's were simply upset because these few Jews still had their lives. The Nazi's got what they deserved in this movie.

The Godfather

I enjoyed watching The Godfather. This was my first time watching this movie and I had heard some good things about the movie. The only thing I didn't like about this film were the violent scenes. But, I guess that's to be expected. One thing that I learned from watching the Godfather would be, trust no one. Anyone could make a complete fool out of you at any second. I would recommend this movie to others, I believe it should be seen if not already! I wish we could have watched Godfather part 2 but, I will probably have to see it on my own time. Vito Corleone was the Godfather, which is the title of the movie. Everyone respected him, he was superior to people, while others were scared to come into contact with him. I honestly don't feel Vito Corleone deserved to die in his tomato plants in front of his grandson. But, He was too sick to carry on the "Family Business". I don't think the world became a better place after he passed. I believe it had gotten intense with his son having all of the power. People respected him just as they respected Vito. I would say this movie is a classic because it's been around for so long and so many people have been able to see it. All in all, I loved this movie!

Miracle on Ice

I really enjoyed watching Miracle on Ice. It was a very entertaining movie, portraying a lot of motivation throughout the entire movie. I liked the fact that the coach didn't give up on his team and lead them to victory. Herb Brooks was definitely an interesting character. He was the definition of someone who didn't believe anything other than success. He wanted the USA to prove that they can do anything possible. He made the team practice all the time, because he felt that's what the team needed to do. This movie was all about success!

During the time period of the this movie, the height of the cold war had come into play (1970's). This movie is about Herb Brooks taking over as head coach for the USA hockey team. He took them to the winter Olympics. They won the winter Olympics against the Soviets from Sweden.  The Soviets had been past year champions. It was a great accomplishment for the USA.

I can't think of an event in my lifetime that had a similar impact at this time.

42

I actually loved this movie! I thought Jackie Robinson was an extremely strong person, and was a role model to many people of all races. Being the only African American on an all Caucasian team was probably hard for Jackie Robinson. I think he handled every situation quite well. I do believe Jackie Robinson helped our country, I believe that he made a difference by even standing up for himself and willingly helping his team win games. He helped our athletic teams with african americans have the same opportunities he had without racist remarks being made. Everyone on the major league are now equal and able to play together.

I would use determination, I would continue to move toward my goal of becoming whatever I would like to be in life. I would use integrity, sticking to what I was taught. I would basically use all of his values but, two really stuck out to me.

"A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives". Jackie Robinson simply mean't having a lasting affect on people and making a change is more than just being known. Jackie Robinson knew he made many people proud. I agree with this statement. I would want to change our country just as Jackie Robinson did.

Cinderella Man

Cinderella usually means someone who is ignored or mistreated, then suddenly becomes famous or recognized. This movie was simply titled "Cinderella Man" because Braddock came from nothing. He was then recognized for his ability and talent in Boxing. I enjoyed watching this movie and would watch it again. This movie gave me a sense of determination. This movie really portrayed how people can go from having nothing to being well known and having more than before. I did like James Braddock, He was very determined to take care of his family. He wanted to share his ability with the world. He wanted to prove people who doubted him, wrong! He didn't want his children to have continue to live the way they had been. During this time period in the movie, it was depressing. Many people needing jobs to provide for their families. Today, jobs are a bit more easier to find. People, no longer have to go out begging for jobs. I feel that our children might have an easier way of living. Finding jobs and other needs will be much easier.

I would steal if my family hadn't eaten for a whole week. I wouldn't want my family to starve or even be split apart because I wasn't able to provide for them. I feel the ethnics are right for stealing food. I mean, I would be sadden at the fact that my family hadn't eaten. I would feel that I felled my family in many different ways. Although stealing isn't right, I would do anything for my family.

I believe that the true, Max Baer, should have been portrayed as himself actually. I don't think that should have portrayed Max Bar in something he isn't. I understand why his family was very upset. They changed his attitude. I do not believe Max was as bad as they made him out to be. I don't really think it takes away from the story of Braddock. He remained the same throughout the movie.

I don't think Braddock liked going to these men. I don't feel he would be begging these people for jobs, if it wasn't for the well being of his family. I don't think he minded begging, He just thought of others over himself. Braddock is quite admirable in this movie for the many caring things he has done.

Tombstone

I wasn't a fan of Tombstone because it how gory the scenes were. I also don't enjoy watching wild west  movies, they're boring to me. To me, everything in the movie was hard to follow and I would instantly get lost. I wasn't able to concentrate on the movie because, the movie wasn't keeping my attention. I didn't really care for any of the characters in the movie. Wyatt Earp was the only one who wanted to keep peace among the people of Tombstone. I do not recommend this movie to others. This movie was extremely boring and to be honest isn't worth watching. I think being well know. A story about something that happened in the past. Being heroic makes someone legendary. I believe that Wyatt Earp was very heroic in the movie by trying to protect the innocent people from harm. There was nothing in the "Wild West" that appealed to me at all. I wouldn't watch this movie again.

Glory

The movie, Glory, was based 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. In this movie, there was a bond between all of the men. It showed how much they cared about one another. I thought this movie portrayed important history, that many people do not know about today. This movie was very gruesome and I didn't like seeing people die. It's upsetting that these individuals lost their lives in the line of duty. They basically offered their lives for their country. They showed a lot of  passion for their country. This movie portrayed the first formal unit of the US army made of mostly African American men. Seeing their lives taken in their line of duty was sad. I would recommend this movie to people who are into movies about the war. I typically do not watch movies like this.

People who love their country, would do anything to protect their country, whether they losing a limb or losing their lives. I commend people who put their lives on the line for their country. People who dedicate their lives to their country are heroes. The people of the 54th Massachusetts are heroes, this was portrayed in the movie as well. They put their lives on the line for us to have opportunities. The troops from shaw were also heroes because they were putting their lives on the for what they thought was right.

I think the significance of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry was it being the first black African American regiment of the North. This was a very important time in history.
